At Château Sainte Marguerite, our vineyards stretch over almost 500 hectares in the heart of Provence, between sea and hills. Established on some of the finest terroirs of AOC Côtes de Provence, such as La Londe, Cuers, Pierrefeu and Hyeress. Our vines draw their character from the richness of their soils and the diversity of their climates. It is these elements, worked with care and respect, that give birth to our cuvées.
Four terroirs, one standard
Each of our terroirs tells a story, shaped by nature.
À La Londe-les-MauresThe nearby Mediterranean softens the climate and favors regular grape ripening.
Further inland, the terroirs of Cuers and Pierrefeu benefit from wide temperature variations between day and night, perfect for concentrating aromas.
À HyèresThe vines benefit from generous sunshine and the influence of the sea, ensuring freshness and balance.
A diversity of soils, the richness of our vineyards
Our vines thrive on a veritable mosaic of soils. Each has a direct influence on the profile of our wines:
- Micaschist :A blend of schist and light minerals, favoring deep rooting and optimal drainage. It's at the heart of some of our finest rosé parcels, such as those in the Fantastic Rosé 2024where it expresses finesse and minerality.
- Flint chips : This soil lends tension and verticality to our whites, particularly in our cuvée Marguerites en Provence White 2023.
- Clay Deep and water-retaining, it favors slow ripening. Ideal for structured reds like our Marguerites en Provence Red 2021.
- Schist Poor and well-drained, it allows the roots to plunge deep into the soil. It's the hallmark of our characterful rosés, especially the Symphonie Rosé 2024.
- Limestone : Very present on the estate, it brings uprightness and minerality to several of our cuvées, including the Fantastic Red 2022.
